Sean Mates already played in today’s PNIA Cash Game and is now nearing the top group of chip leaders following a massive hand against Matt Glantz.

Six full levels remain in Day 1B and we are starting to see some meaningful hands take place across the gradually dwindling tournament field. Sean Mates satellited his way into today’s Poker Night in America Cash Game and after his session wrapped up, bought into the main event.

Seated adjacent to fellow “Cash Game” player Matt Glantz, Mates found a double through his neighbor in a relatively large cooler to move up to near 120,000. While we may have missed the action, the table relayed it to us as Glantz saw his stack drop down to about 50,000.

Mates raised out of the cutoff to 2,000 and Glantz called out of the small blind. The flop came out J♣66 and the two players checked. The turn was the J and Glantz bet 4,000. Mates flatted and the Q fell on the river.

Glantz bet 11,000 and Mates came over the top all-in for 49,000 total and Glantz called. Mates turned over 6♣6♠ and saw he was on the right side of a cooler as Glantz rolled over Q♣J for a full house.

With the hand, Mates is nearing the chip leaders while Glantz is teetering near the chip average. Given the current dynamic between the two players, it will be interesting to see if they square off again anytime soon.
