PNIA Main Event (Day 1A): Nearing The Banner

Level 9 (250/500/75)
Total PNIA Main Event Entries: 177

As previously noted, champions of Choctaw main events past have their glory emblazoned in glory around the Grand Theater. Two players in today’s Day 1 session have come tantalizingly close to being permanently enshrined in Choctaw history and are battling it out at the same table to try and take that final step.

Justin Liberto had his banner run cut down in sixth place during January 2016’s WSOP Circuit event. Liberto earned $80,000 for that run and recently crossed the $2,000,000 mark in tournament winnings. The 2015 bracelet winner is well above the starting stack after sitting down a few levels ago as he heads in the direction of second Choctaw final table.
Andy Hwang came as close it gets in 2015 when he took the silver medal in the World Poker Tour event. Hwang ultimately lost in a heads up duel to Jason Brin and took home a $468,000 consolation prize for his efforts. Hwang earned a cash in April’s PNIA Main Event and will look to regain that final table form this weekend.
